Canon 7D Going Green!

Canon 7D: A Green Machine?

Recently Dakota Wolff Nicolucci and myself, two hosts of the “Digital Revolution Podcast,” got together to shoot a promotional video to spread the word about this blog and our weekly podcast series. So I thought it would be nice to share some production stills as well as a sample of how well the 7D footage composited since we shot 90% green screen. For this promo video we decided to have some fun and made it pretty cheesy, trying to pass off a “badass” persona. And according to the footage I think we were successful.

The sample photos I have provided were composited in After Effects, using “key light.” I have not made any other adjustments yet to this footage, just a simple eye dropper click to sample the green and see where that would take me. I was pleasantly surprise to see with just one click how well this footage keyed. The edges are a little soft, which in my opinion added a nice effect. There is also some slight detail loss from spill issues. But overall a really successful key! As a side note, all this footage was shoot with the “Neutral picture style” and than brought in using “Apple ProRes 422,” with the 4:4:4 chroma filtering checked. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask and I will answer as soon as possible. Enjoy!
