Cinematography Choice of the Week!

“Worked For Me” Ken Simpson

I have decided to kick off this weekly article entitled “Cinematography Choice of the Week,” taking a break from all the tech talk done during the week. However I will choosing shorts that are utilizing the technology of the DSLR’s. This week I stumbled upon this really beautiful short shot on the Canon 5D mk ii called “Worked for Me,” written, directed, produced and edited by Ken Simpson. I know I am a little late on this one since this short was published 6 months ago, however it is definitely worth a second mention. After researching some more about this project on the technical side as far as equipment and gear, I really appreciated the shot choice and composition chosen by DP, Alex Dacev. I am first and foremost a cinematographer and DP, and their choice of movement, composition and color palate all lended to the great story being told. I really loved all of the POV shot’s from the perspective of the character “Michael” placing us in his shoes and experience the situation from his eye’s. All in all a beautiful crafted short and look forward to seeing future work from Ken and Alex.
