Cinematography Choice of the Week: “City of Lakes”

“City of Lakes” Kevin Shahinian

So this week I wanted to introduce everyone to this short film if they have not seen it already called, “City of Lakes,” directed by Kevin Shahinian. In my opinion this is an excellent example of the contemporary creative process in digital film. Organically using beautiful locations and movement to bring the story and the frame to life. Shot composition and color really lend to the visual elements in the frame. After reviewing behind the scenes footage there was a lot of steadicam used which didn’t read in the final product, making me  very happy. Kevin and his team used the steadicam in a way that was appropriate and that did not call attention to itself. So without further a due please watch, “City of Lakes.”
