Cinematography Choice of the Week: “Apricot”

“APRICOT” Written & Directed by: Ben Briand

With the flood of films being produced using the HDSLR technology it really has been a challenge sifting through all of the content that has been put out there. I recently came across this short film written and directed by Ben Briand, entitled, “Apricot.” What I have been talking about recently is that it is so easy now to call out a film for being shot on a DSLR. I feel as if this short film used what can be called some “cliche” DSLR attributes but in a way that was not overbearing and subtle. I really enjoyed the risk taken to use hand-held shots during the entire diner scene. Along with stunning warm color palette in addition to beautiful lighting this was an excellent example of how to set yourself apart form the rest.
